Solubility: Soluble in water and some solvents, such as appropriate proportions of ethanol/water, propanol/water, etc. Aqueous solutions exhibit surface activity. High transparency, stable performance. Different specifications of products have different gelation temperatures. Solubility varies with viscosity; the lower the viscosity, the greater the solubility. Different specifications of HPMC have certain performance differences. The solubility of HPMC in water is not affected by pH value.
HPMC exhibits decreased surface activity as its methoxyl content decreases, its gel point increases, its water solubility decreases, and its surface activity also declines.
HPMC also possesses thickening properties, salt tolerance, low ash content, pH stability, water retention, dimensional stability, excellent film-forming properties, and broad-spectrum enzyme resistance, dispersibility, and adhesiveness.
